I get around to a lot of different for restaurants and bars with work travel. If you need to know what is on tap at the Denver airport in the C terminal, I got you. A lot of times meetings I go to will have a cocktail hour with a featured cocktail. Totally my jam to try a signature or featured drink. The Green Hawaiian Cocktail was an inspiration from a green flash cocktail I had recently down in Sarasota for a meeting. I came home and recreated it with a little bit of a change-up since I can't leave well enough alone.
Green Hawaiian Cocktail combines all the tropical flavors of pineapple, melon, coconut, and citrus with Midori, Malibu Rum, pineapple juice, and lemon-lime soda for the best beach or pool cocktail.
Green Hawaiian Cocktail
The Midori was new for me. I know, shocking for me too. If you follow me on Pinterest, you have probably been wondering about all the weird Midori posts. I was trying to get a feel for other Midori cocktails. When I first attempted to make this I just combined Midori, Malibu, and pineapple juice. But it just left me a little blah. The addition of sweet and sour and lemon-lime soda fixed the blah-ness.
In a cocktail shaker, fill with ice and add two parts Midori, two parts Malibu, two parts pineapple juice and one part sweet and sour mix. This will be the majority of ingredients for two Green Hawaiian cocktails.
Shake the cocktail for 10-20 seconds to completely combine and get slight dilution from the ice. When it is done being shook, pour over ice in highball glasses. Leave about an inch or two in the top of each of the cocktails to top off with soda.
Add a fun straw to the cocktail and give it a quick stir. Then garnish with cherries and pineapple slices.

Green Hawaiian Cocktail
Ingredients
- 2 shots Midori
- 2 shots Malibu Rum
- 2 shots pineapple juice
- 1 shot sweet and sour mix
- 1 cup lemon-lime soda
Instructions
- In a cocktail shaker, add ice along with Midori, Malibu Rum, pineapple juice, and sweet and sour mix. Shake.
- Pour the cocktail into two highball glasses leaving an inch or two for topping off with lemon-lime soda.
- Garnish with maraschino cherries and pineapple slices.
