Since wine is a staple in my house, I decided to use a bottle for the beef short ribs I found buried in the freezer. I love beef short ribs and got the butcher to cut them out the last time we had a whole beef butchered instead of putting the ribs into the ground beef. Then I forgot about them. When I found the packages I knew I had to get the Instant Pot Ultra and a bottle of wine combine to make this Instant Pot red wine braised short ribs recipe. Instant Pot Red Wine Short Ribs is a perfect recipe for anyone on a keto or low carb diet too.
Instant Pot Red Wine Braised Short Ribs create a tender, juicy beef short rib recipe in under two hours. The beef falls off the bone after 90 minutes of pressure cooking in a bottle of red wine.
Instant Pot Red Wine Braised Short Ribs
The ingredients for the short ribs are a combination of steak seasoning, butter, Better than Bouillon, garlic, and red wine with the star of the show, beef short ribs. The Instant Pot is almost an ingredient with this recipe too.
Begin by cutting the short ribs apart and seasoning with steak seasoning. Set the Instant Pot to saute and begin melting the butter. Add the short ribs to the Instant Pot and brown on each side of the short rib.
This will most likely need to be done in batches. I could fit four short ribs in the Instant Pot at a time. My Instant Pot is an 8-quart Instant Pot Ultra. It has quickly become my favorite Instant Pot. When all the short ribs are browned, deglaze the Instant Pot with a cup of red wine.
Add the roasted beef Better than Bouillon to the pan with the wine. Sprinkle in sliced garlic. Then place the short ribs back to the Instant Pot. If the ribs won't fit, try standing each rib upright to fit all the ribs into the Instant Pot. Put pats of butter over the top of the beef short ribs.
Set the Instant Pot to the meat or pressure cooker setting with high pressure for 90 minutes. Secure the lid and let pressure cook. Natural release for 15 minutes. If the lid is still pressured, you may quick release the pressure.
Remove the ribs and serve over the top of mashed potatoes or mashed cauliflower if you are on a keto diet. This recipe is perfect for a keto or low carb dinner.
